Lisa Quinn-Schofield is an artist based on the coast of Western Australia. Lisa’s art practice has evolved in response to the changing environment and the undercurrents of her own life experiences. Deeply connected to the rhythms and cycles of nature, her work explores the dialogue between opposing forces—light and dark, masculine and feminine—and the delicate balance of competing energies inherent in Mother Nature & life itself.

Living a life between the ocean and bushland, this space in between has become a constant source of inspiration - a place of healing, contemplation and nostalgia. Lisa’s creative process centres on the exploration of human emotion & awareness intuitively connected to the use of certain colours that resonate to a feeling or sensation. Lisa’s art practice aims to capture this feeling of the visceral experience.

Experimenting with different coloured translucent layers in her paintings, luminosity appears to emerge from the darkness creating the interplay of opposing forces weaving together themes of renewal and transformation. Soft edges and mark making give vibrational qualities to create a meditative and transcendent space within the work. Capturing these moments of synergy demonstrate this co-dependency of our experiences in the external world and the structure of our own internal landscapes. This inquiry has revealed a rich rawness and the awakening of feminine energy within the work. This creation of self is shaped by the delicate push pull interplay of juxtaposing energies where light and darkness can coexist and beauty emerges from the unexpected.
